FAQs

Board examination scoring & assessment FAQ.

How does the 80 + 20 marking scheme work in Class 10?
In CBSE and RBSE Class 10, each subject has an 80-mark Theory Board paper and a 20-mark Internal Assessment. The 20 internal marks consist of: Periodic Tests (5 marks), Multiple Diverse Assessments (5 marks), Portfolio/Notebook (5 marks), and Subject Enrichment Activities/Practicals (5 marks).
How are Class 12 Science practicals (30 marks) evaluated?
For Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, the 30-mark practical examination is evaluated by an External and Internal Examiner: Two core experiments (15 marks), Practical Record notebook (5 marks), Investigatory Project (5 marks), and Viva Voce on experiments (5 marks). Theory examination is for 70 marks.
What is the official CBSE CGPA to Percentage formula?
According to official CBSE Examination Bye-Laws, the conversion factor is 9.5: Percentage (%) = CGPA × 9.5. For example, a 9.6 CGPA equals 9.6 × 9.5 = 91.2%.
How can I score full marks in Section A (MCQs & Assertion-Reasoning)?
Section A comprises 20 questions of 1 mark each (16 standard MCQs and 4 Assertion-Reasoning). Because no step-marking is possible in Section A, full marks require word-for-word NCERT reading and conceptual clarity without speculative guessing.
